THE STAR FORT OF PALMA NOVA

  1. FROM THE PROVINCE OF MANTOVA AND SABBIONETA THE TRAIN WILL TAKE YOU TO THE LAST CORNER OF ITALY THAT OF UDINE AND pALMANOVA.This is another Star fort that of Palma nova near Venice but nearer to Trieste and Udine .Actually its a Star Fort with a Town/city inside it.Its huge.In 1593 Venice decided to build a new type of town that could easily be defended with one bastion always being able to support another. The city commemorated the victory at Lepanto but was also built against the Turkish land army who had not been defeated.
  2. Vincenzo Scamozzi designed it. It has a moat and its outer fortifications were not completed until the Napoleonic period. (to be continued I promise)
  3. I PUT IN A VENETAIAN FLAG FOR THE WARGAMING TYPE.
