The Crimean War was interesting in that it was where the myth of the British army secretly collapsed. Italian state archives give us the information that the Italians present in the Crimea were in the pay of the British and therefore not allies as always thought.Apart from this there were German and Swiss legions in the pay of the British. This was after the British army refused to soldier.Who could blame them?
